Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Although we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to point out its nearly flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. Inspection ratings account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You should avoid facilities with a bunch of severe deficiencies flagged. This particular nursing home received 6 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Sadly, this nursing home only received a grade of D for its long-term care rating, which ended up being one of its more respectable category grades. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We discovered that this facility vaccinated only 87.86885 percent of its residents, which is somewhat alarming. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This nursing home's second lowest category is short-term care, where it earned a grade of just D in that area. This is a relatively poor grade. Short-term care grades are crucial for prospective residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. With a grade of this caliber in this area, we weren't stunned to learn this facility was well below average in several staffing metrics we focus on. In fact, it supplied far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who ultimately returned home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 5.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The last area we graded was nursing. This nursing home was given an abysmal grade of F in that category. Our nursing score includes several subcategories. The most heavily weighted one is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This nursing home provided only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing scores. This facility fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
