Facility Inspections
While we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively favorable inspections in recent years. We gave it a respectable grade of B in this category, which was much better than its overall grade. Inspection ratings are tied to many datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities with severe deficiencies linked to endangerment of patients. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This tells you CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this nursing home a middle of the road score in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a C. Short-term care grades are typically used to assess a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To provide high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 4.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below the national average.

Nurse Quality
We were stunned to find that this nursing home also excelled in the area of nursing. We awarded it a grade of D for that category, which is one of our highest scores. In computing a facility's nursing rating, we look at the amount of time nurses are with residents and the skill levels of the nurses. This particular place averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This figure is far below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these statistics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we rated was long-term care, was this facility's worst category. We gave this facility a grade of D in this area. For residents seeking a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. We were pleased to learn that this facility vaccinates 95.33074 percent of its residents for pneumonia. To our surprise, this place also keeps its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
