Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to emphasize that this facility earned near flawless inspections recently. We awarded them an A+ in this category. Inspection ratings account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this category generally have few severe deficiencies. It does not appear that we have information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. In calculating a nursing home's nursing rating, we weigh the amount of time nurses spend with patients as well as the level of skill of those nurses. This nursing home averages 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a system of moving a resident even once per day.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility also was elite in the category of long-term care, where it received a grade of A-. Not many facilities performed better in this area. Nursing homes that excel in this category tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to residents. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 99.27798 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is much higher than the majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The last category we rated is short-term care, where this facility received a grade of B+. This rounded out a very impressive report card. Very few nursing homes received a B+ or better in each of our categories. Our short-term care grades are arguably most meaningful for those in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates additional skilled nursing. This means not only nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of residents that were able to return home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
