Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility earned an elite short-term care rating. In fact, we gave this facility an A in this category, which really helped its overall score. In computing our short-term care grades, we scrutinize a facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This area is often a meaningful measure of a facility's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.2 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Turning to our inspection category, it appears this nursing home has earned respectable inspections in recent years as well. We gave it a B- in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are quite insignificant.
