Short-term Care Quality
In addition to being a strong nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in the area of short-term care, where it received an elite grade of A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Short-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a wide scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. One of this nursing home's strength is that it offers more than seven hours of care per week from registered nurses to each resident. This is really the gold standard in this area, as it's about 50% higher than the average facility's level of registered nurse staffing. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents that were able to return home from this nursing home. This place fared as well as just about any facility in this area with 74.6 percent of its patients returning home.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of A+. We looked at the levels of nurses at the nursing home, in addition to the number of hours those nurses spent with patients, in computing our rating in this area. This facility provides an incredible 4.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. Out of this total, many of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the more highly trained levels of nurses. In addition to providing high levels of nursing care, this place was also above average in each of the major quality measures we looked at in this category. It performed well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Facility Inspections
Adding to its strong resume, this facility earned a grade of B for its inspections rating. This is a well above average score in this category. Inspection ratings are based on datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this area have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This facility was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies an immediate threat to patient safety or health. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our last category, this facility was awarded a decent long-term care rating. Although this isn't quite as impressive as some of its other grades, this is really not the end of the world. For residents looking for a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. After looking at the impressive nursing hours provided by this nursing home, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 98.954704 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is higher than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
