Facility Inspections
In addition to earning a great overall score, this nursing home fared even better in the area of inspections which is based on the nursing home's recent government inspections. In fact, we gave it an A for this area, which is one of our best scores. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively insignificant. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.
Nurse Quality
Building on its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B+ for that category. Our nursing score is primarily associated with a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of moving a resident more often.

Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
