Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall score was not a highlight, it actually excelled in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A for that area, which is one of our best scores. Our inspection scores are based on several datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these reports. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities with severe deficiencies linked to risks to resident well being. This place was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to cause an imminent risk to resident health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home was given an F for its short-term care grade. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to formulate a tool for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Based on its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to learn that this nursing home was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the data we looked at. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality
Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. In determining a facility's nursing rating, we look at the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents and the level of licensure of the nurses. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This number is quite a bit below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we graded was long-term care. It received an abysmal F in this area, which is a very poor grade. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. We were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility vaccinated 82.084694 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is significantly less than average. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
