Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This nursing home was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be major deficiencies. Nurse Quality
This first-rate facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Nursing ratings are primarily tied to the nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular facility provided 5 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This was one of the more impressive totals we found. Furthermore, a significant portion of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. These are both really impressive figures. In addition to providing high levels of care, this nursing home was also above average in several of the major quality measures we assessed in this category. For example, it performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. These areas are generally reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care a nursing home provides.
Long-term Care Quality
An additional strength for this facility was long-term care, where it was given an A+ grade. This is simply as elite as it gets in this area. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in long-term care it is typically a good sign for patient care and suggests that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. On top of assessing the impressive volume of care provided by aids and other staff at this facility, we also were happy with the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility gave the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. This combination proved to be effective as this nursing home was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.88 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
In the last area, we awarded this nursing home an A+ for our short-term care score. This topped off a first-rate profile. Our short-term care grade is typically employed to assess a nursing home's rehabilitation services. To offer quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. When we assessed this facility's nursing hours, we found it offered substantially more care from registered nurses than most nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
