Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

On top of being a first rate facility overall, this facility also excelled in the category of nursing, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes fared better in this area. In calculating a facility's nursing grade, we weigh the amount of time nurses are caring for patients as well as the skill levels of those nurses. This facility provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also fared very well in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a score of A-. Not many nursing homes received a better grade in this category. In determining these short-term care grades, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to formulate a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Unfortunately, it does not look like this facility submitted information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Adding yet another impressive category grade, we awarded this facility a grade of B+ for our inspections rating. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with higher grades in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last category we scored was long-term care. This nursing home was given a favorable nursing score in our assessment, with a B. Even though this was not as impressive as several of its other category grades, this is still one of the better grades for that category. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it generally means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 99.60317 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
