Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home earned a nursing grade which is stronger than its overall score. We awarded this facility an above average score of B in this category. Our nursing grade focuses on the facility's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of licensure of the nurses and the amount of time spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of moving residents even once per day.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

We also awarded this nursing home a grade of B- for our inspections rating. This is a very respectable nursing score. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. Unfortunately, we were not able to find information about this nursing home's deficiencies. Without having the information regarding deficiencies for this nursing home, it was difficult to really evaluate it in the inspections category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's third highest area ended up being its short-term care grade, where it was given a grade of B-. With our short-term care category, we endeavor to create a valuable barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze a nursing home's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. We found that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. It supplied fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. It is important to determine whether this is adversely impacting the quality of care. The final item we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 4.6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The last area we assessed was long-term care. This nursing home was given a grade of C in the category. For patients seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. We were concerned by the fact that this facility vaccinated a relatively low 86.69725 percent of its patients for pneumonia. On a more positive note, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
