Facility Inspections
We also wanted to point out that this facility earned near flawless government inspections recently. We gave them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively minor. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was elite in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of A. Very few facilities fared better in this area. With our short-term care rating, we try to craft a sound barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality
Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- in that category. Our nursing grade assesses the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We factor in both the levels of skill of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with patients. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we scored was long-term care. This facility was given a better than average nursing rating in our assessment, with a grade of B. Even though this isn't as strong as several of its other category grades, this is nevertheless one of our better scores in this area. Facilities that excel in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 94.799995 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia can be a deadly illness for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a nursing home does not roll the dice on this issue. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
