In addition to being a quality facility overall, this facility really excelled in the category of short-term care, where it received a grade of A. Short-term care scores are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home, which as an area this facility performed much more favorably. This place outperformed the vast majority of nursing homes in this area with 85.8 percent of its patients returning home. This is a significantly higher rate than most nursing homes.

This facility also excelled in the area of inspections. We awarded it an A- for that category. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this area typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B in this area. We looked at the levels of nurses working for the facility, in addition to the quantity of time those nurses spent with residents, in calculating our score in this category. This nursing home averages 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some quality-based measures in this category. This place fared well in some of the quality measures we assessed. By way of illustration, in terms of the number of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this facility performed better than the national average. This is generally an indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented with better nursing care.

The last area we looked at is long-term care. This nursing home was given a very good long-term care score this year, with a B-. Although this wasn't as dominant as several of its other scores, this is nevertheless a respectable rating for this category. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. We were disappointed to learn that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 90.23256 percent of its residents for pneumonia. On a more positive note, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.52 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.
