In addition to being a first rate nursing home overall, this nursing home performed well in the area of inspections, where it earned an A+. Very few nursing homes fared this well in this area. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this area most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Our short-term care ratings are based on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last metric we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 6.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

This nursing home also received an A+ for its nursing grade. Nursing ratings are based largely on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a system of turning residents even once per day.

In our last category, we gave this nursing home a grade of A+ for its long-term care grade. This completed a very impressive profile. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were not able to find this place's vaccination data. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
