To go along with its strong overall grade, we gave this nursing home an A for our nursing rating. Nursing grades are tied to nurse staffing levels. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a protocol of moving a resident more often.

Turning to another one of this place's strengths, it also received a very impressive inspection rating. Inspections turned out to be one of its best category grades. In that area, we gave this facility an A-. Our inspection ratings are tied to several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent government inspections. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in this industry.

This facility also was awarded a favorable short-term care score. In fact, we gave it an above average score of B+ in this category. Our short-term care scores are believed to be more important for people requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally mandates higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not just nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
