Facility Inspections
To pair with its strong overall grade, we gave this place a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this area most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Adding to its elite accomplishments in other areas, we awarded this facility a score of A- for its long-term care score. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. Clearly we were satisfied with our findings here in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home was given a favorable short-term care score as well. We gave it one of our better grades in that area with a score of B+. In our short-term care rating, we try to craft a valuable gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at the facility's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Remarkably, this nursing home provides approximately 1.5 times as many hours of services from registered nurses and physical therapists than most nursing homes we looked at. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
Nurse Quality
Moving on to our fourth area, this nursing home received a very strong nursing grade. In fact, we awarded it a B+ in this category, rounding out one of our more impressive profiles. We scrutinized the qualifications of nurses employed by the facility, in addition to the quantity of time those nurses spent with patients, in computing our grade in this category. This facility provides an incredible 7.2 hours of nursing care per patient per day. Out of that total, many of the hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the more highly trained levels of nurses. In addition to providing impressive levels of nursing care, this nursing home also excelled in the quality measures we assessed. It performed as well as any facility in the nation in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
