Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with its favorable overall grade, we gave this place an A for our inspections rating. Our inspection scores account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher grades in this area usually have very few severe deficiencies. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in the industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B in this area. Our nursing grade is mostly tied to a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility was awarded a favorable short-term care grade as well. We gave it one of our better scores in that area with a score of B. In calculating our short-term care grades, we look at the facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This score is often a fair assessment of a facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. The last item we considered in this category is the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The last area we analyzed is long-term care, which is this facility's least impressive category. We gave this nursing home a grade of D in that category. Unfortunately, this category pulled down the nursing home's overall grade to some degree. For residents in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 98.765434 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
