Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this place is a quality nursing home is that it earned a very impressive inspection rating. Inspections is its best category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility an A+. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. It does not appear that we were able to find deficiency data for this facility. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Among this nursing home's other achievements is its high-end long-term care grade. We awarded them one of our most favorable scores in that category, with a score of A-. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it generally means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. One of the criteria we considered after nursing hours is vaccinations. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccination is a great way to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations for the nursing home population. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home's next best category was nursing. We awarded it a grade of B- in this category. While this wasn't quite as good as some of its other category grades, this isn't a bad score either. Nursing grades are based largely on nurse staffing levels. This facility provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a somewhat alarming figure as it is well below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home surprisingly excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In fact, it scored well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed is short-term care, which is this nursing home's least impressive category. We gave this facility a D in that category. Of course, this category pulled down the facility's overall grade a bit. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that eventually returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
