Facility Inspections
While we didn't give this place a good overall score, we actually gave it a relatively strong grade in the category of inspections, where it received a B. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was hit with 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that CMS didn't deem any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate risk to resident safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
One of this nursing home's more favorable category scores came in the area of short-term care. This wound up being its second most favorable category. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a B-. With our short-term care grade, we strive to create a meaningful measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at the facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. We were surprised to find that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. The facility offered fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The last measure we assessed in this category is the number of residents that eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality
We were surprised to find that this facility also excelled in the area of nursing. We gave it an D for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Our nursing grade is largely based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This place averaged just 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient each day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these datapoints to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to our fourth area, this facility really didn't perform well in this area either. Due to a poor grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as terrible as it gets. If you are seeking anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care grades. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is a very respectable total. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
