Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of B- in that category. We weighed the skill-level of nurses working for the nursing home, as well as the number of hours the nurses spent with patients, in calculating our score in this category. This particular facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This figure is far below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home surprisingly excelled in some of the quality measures we looked at. It scored well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is as important as the number of hours of care provided.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home received a grade of just D in the area of inspections. Unfortunately, this ended up being its second best grade. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Generally, you should be especially cautious when considering a nursing home with severe deficiencies on its inspection reports. This facility was hit with one category J or K deficiency, which rank among the worst deficiencies. Finally, we also need to point out that this place was assessed large government fines of more than $100,000. This typically indicates that a nursing home'sbad performance has been an issue for multiple years.

Short-term Care Quality
Our next area we looked at was short-term care, where this nursing home received an F. Short-term care grades are meaningful for patients requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires more skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a wide range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Based on its score in this category, we were not stunned to find that this place was well below average in terms of the quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we looked at. Frankly, this was about what we expected here. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 4.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we scored is long-term care. This facility received a very poor grade of F in this category. Long-term care grades in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. One of the factors we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccines. We were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to only 71.18056 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
