Although we didn't grade this facility favorably overall, we did give it an excellent score in the area of inspections, where it received an A+. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we have deficiency counts for this nursing home. We wish we had more information about this facility. Without having access to complete deficiency data, it ended up being challenging to really evaluate this nursing home in this area.

This nursing home's next highest area turned out to be its long-term care grade, where it was awarded a B-. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. We were optimistic to learn that this nursing home vaccinated 94.97041 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Lastly, we looked at its number of hospitalizations. We found that this facility had 2.23 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, this figure was less impressive than its other scores in the long-term care area.

Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its nursing grade. Our nursing rating is primarily associated with a facility's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 3.8 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which is below average. To go along with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this facility also did not perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing ratings. We looked at the percent of residents sustaining pressure ulcers and major falls. This place had more falls and pressure ulcers than the average nursing home. This may be a bad sign when you consider that many bed sores and falls are preventable with better nursing care. These scores hurt this nursing home's nursing grade quite a bit.

Turning to the last category, this facility really didn't fare very well here either. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in short-term care, this is about as terrible as it gets. Short-term care scores are meaningful for patients looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of skilled nursing. This means a broad range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. With a score in this range for this area, we weren't stunned to learn this place was below average in two of the key staffing metrics we assess. The nursing home offered significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 30.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
