Registered Staff Hours
Long-term Care Quality
This place really fared well in the area of long-term care, where it received a grade of A-. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care typically provide residents with more supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 96.72131 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia can be a life or death health condition for nursing home residents so we prefer when a nursing home doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Facility Inspections
This facility also excelled in inspections, where it earned an A-. Few nursing homes performed as well in this category. Inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe. This indicates that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to cause an immediate risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality
We awarded this nursing home a grade of just D for our short-term care grade. This is not a very good score. Our short-term care ratings are vital for residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires additional highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a broad range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this place offers less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The final item we considered in this category is the percentage of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 0 percent of its patients returning home.
Nurse Quality
Switching gears to the fourth area, this nursing home really did not fare very well. Due to a very poor grade of F in nursing, this is this nursing home's weakest area. When calculating a facility's nursing rating, we look at the number of hours nurses are with patients as well as the level of licensure of the nurses. With just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were far below the national average. In addition to its subpar nursing hour totals, this facility received suboptimal marks in many of the quality-based measures we considered in calculating our nursing scores. We found that more of this facility's residents sustained falls which led to major injury.
