Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall performance, we awarded this facility an A for our inspections rating. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.
Nurse Quality
Adding to its strong performance in other categories, we awarded this nursing home an B+ for nursing. Our nursing grade is mostly associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a system of turning residents more often.

Long-term Care Quality
The next category we looked at was long-term care. This facility was awarded an impressive long-term care score, with a B+ in this category. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is a good sign for patient care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 99.58734 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly is often a life or death illness for nursing home residents so we prefer when a facility does not leave this to chance. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we assessed was short-term care. This facility was awarded a C for this category. Our short-term care grades are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a vast scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 3.8 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
