Facility Inspections
On top of receiving a great overall score, this facility also earned top notch government inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our better grades in that area, with an A+. These inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, this nursing home also was given favorable long-term care scores this year. In fact, we awarded them one of our higher grades in that area, with a score of B+. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. Once we concluded our assessment of the volume of care provided by nurses, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 99.49749 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is often a life threatening ailment for nursing home patients so we like it when a facility doesn't take any chances. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of C. While this didn't quite match its scores in some of the categories discussed above, this is still a decent score. Our nursing rating is largely tied to the facility's nurse staffing. This place provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure which is well below the national average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home actually fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In fact, it performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed is short-term care. This nursing home received a C for this area. Our short-term care grade is typically used to judge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. In order to provide quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide better levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 3.8 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
