Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it actually received a very impressive inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our more favorable scores in that area with a B. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the category of long-term care, this nursing home received just a D in that category. Sadly, this wound up being one of its best areas. Facilities that receive this kind of score in long-term care likely don't provide the type of consistent around the clock care that some other nursing homes provide. One of the datapoints we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to just 76.85715 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. When calculating a nursing home's nursing rating, we weigh the amount of time nurses spend with residents as well as the level of skill of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This facility fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the final category, this nursing home really didn't fare very well in this area either. Due to an abysmal grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as bad as it gets. With our short-term care rating, we strive to forge a valuable gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess a facility's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this facility provides significantly less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than a typical nursing home. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
