Facility Inspections
We were unable to award this place any respectable scores. We especially wanted to note that it received an F for its inspection score. An F in this category is particularly troublesome because it usually points to red flags on the facility's inspection reports. When a place has this bad of an inspection score, you should expect some severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to the well being of residents. This nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies by CMS. The only favorable thing we found is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they created a risk to patient health or safety. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home ended up receiving a a terrible score in our short-term care area. It was given an F in this category. Short-term care grades are often used to score a nursing home's rehabilitation services. To provide highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to have better levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Given its grade in this area, we were not surprised to find that this place was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the measures we looked at. Honestly, this was what we expected to find. The last measure we looked at in this category is the number of patients who returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 5.2 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was quite a bit below the national average.

Nurse Quality
In addition, we gave this facility an F in the area of nursing care. Nursing scores are based largely on nurse staffing levels. This facility provided just 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is not a very impressive figure. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we assessed was long-term care. This nursing home received a rock bottom grade of F in that category. Long-term care grades in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. As it turns out, this facility administered the vaccine to only 71.47651 percent of its residents, which is well below average. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
