Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a strong nursing home overall, it also earned A+ government inspections in recent years. Its inspections are nearly flawless. Our inspection grades weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this category usually have very few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility also received a impressive long-term care score. In fact, this is this facility's second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility a score of A. When facilities receive this type of grade in this category it is usually a good sign for patient care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 97.9021 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. In calculating a facility's nursing score, we consider the quantity of hours nurses are seeing residents and the levels of training of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as having a protocol of moving a resident more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Moving on to our last category, this facility was given a strong short-term care score. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- in this category, resulting in this facility receiving straight A's. Our short-term care ratings are based on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a broad range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the number of patients who were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 4.7 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
