Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to be an imminent risk to resident health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Nurse Quality
Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it an B+ for that category. Nursing grades are largely associated with the facility's nurse staffing. With 4.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily, this facility surpassed the overwhelming majority of facilities. Lastly, this nursing home also performed well in several of the quality measures we looked at. By way of illustration, in terms of the number of its residents suffering falls which lead to major injury, this nursing home performed better than the national average. This is often a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to another strength for this facility, we gave them one of our more favorable grades in our short-term care category as well, with a B+. Short-term care grades are generally used to score a facility's rehabilitation services In order to have highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have better levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, this nursing home offers both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities offer both. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. It fared better than most nursing homes in the nation with 53.9 percent of its patients returning home.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we rated is long-term care, in which this facility was given a C. This proved to be this facility's least impressive area. This is still not a bad grade. Our long-term care scores are more meaningful for individuals needing more traditional assistance related to personal care. Although we determined this facility had an impressive amount of nursing hours provided by nurses and other nursing staff, we found its vaccination rate to be somewhat slightly lower than we anticipated. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to just 44.666664 percent of its residents. This is one statistic we would love to see this facility improve on. On a more positive note, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Although it had 1.94 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted statistic was better than most facilities since it had some more complicated patients.
