Facility Inspections
We want to point out that this nursing home really outperformed its overall score in the category of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our highest scores in that category with an A. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively minor. This place was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
We also want to point out that this facility received a great long-term care score. In fact, it received one of our most impressive grades in this category with a grade of A. If you are looking for anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care scores. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 89.932884 percent of its patients. This is a few points lower than we were hoping for. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
The next area we assessed is short-term care. Unfortunately, in that area, we awarded this nursing home an F. This is not nearly as strong as some of its other category grades. Quite frankly, this is about as bad as it gets. In the category of short-term care, we strive to assess indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at a facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. In this nursing home's case, we found that it provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last measure we looked at in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar metrics sunk this facility's short-term care grade.
Nurse Quality
Turning to our last category, this nursing home didn't perform well. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in nursing, this was its worst grade. Nursing ratings are heavily correlated with nurse staffing levels. This facility offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is well below average. On top of its subpar nursing hour totals, this nursing home earned suboptimal marks in many of the quality-based metrics we considered in calculating our nursing ratings. We found that a higher percentage of this place's patients suffered falls leading to major injury.
