While we did not have many favorable things to say about this facility's overall grade, it earned a somewhat respectable inspection report this year. It received a decent score in this category with a B-. Our inspection ratings are based on items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.

One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we gave this nursing home an B-. Our nursing grade assesses several subcategories, but the main consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a somewhat discouraging figure as it is well below the national average. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this facility actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is usually a good indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place.

This facilities next most favorable area was long-term care. We awarded it a grade of B- in this area. This is essentially a middle of the road score in this category. For prospective residents looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are an important measure. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Candidly, we were a bit alarmed this facility provided the vaccine to a relatively low 81.59204 percent of its patients. Fortunately, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

The final category we rated was short-term care, which is this facility's least impressive category. We gave this facility a grade of D in this area. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This was not a strength for this facility. We found that just 4.5 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
