Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Although we gave this nursing home a horrible overall grade, we awarded it an A- for our inspections rating. This score is far more impressive than the facility's overall grade. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some are relatively insignificant. While this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of D. In computing a facility's nursing grade, we weigh the quantity of hours nurses are seeing patients as well as the level of skill of the nurses. This nursing home offered a meager 3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. Finally, we also looked at some quality measures in calculating our nursing ratings. This nursing home was above average in two of the metrics we considered, with good scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

In addition, we gave this nursing home a rock-bottom F in the category of long-term care. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care grades. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is a very solid datapoint. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.39 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Moving on to our next area, this nursing home did not perform very well in this area either. With a rock bottom grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. In our short-term care assessment, we endeavor to create a valuable measure for rehabilitation services. In this process, we analyze a nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. With its score in this area, we weren't stunned to learn that this nursing home is well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. Honestly, this was about what we expected to find. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 20.7 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
