Facility Inspections

Grade: B

While we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it earned a fairly impressive government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our better grades in that area with a B. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. It is typically best to avoid places that had a long list of deficiencies. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Remarkably, we awarded this nursing home a grade of C for our nursing rating, which isn't a bad grade. Nursing ratings are largely tied to a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This figure is far below the national average. Finally, nursing scores also consider quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this place performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is often an indicator that a place has quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a nursing home supplies enough nurses aids to assist its residents.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Moving on to the area of short-term care, this nursing home was given just a D in that category. Our short-term care scores are probably more meaningful for people requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally utilizes more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we considered the number of patients that were able to return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final area we graded is long-term care. This facility was given an abysmal grade of F in this area. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in long-term care it generally means the facility didn't perform well in our measures relating to resident care. On top of considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated just 74.553566 percent of its residents, which is slightly concerning. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.
