Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a grade of B+ for our inspections category. This score is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. It is generally in your best interest to avoid places that have a long list of severe deficiencies. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We also want to point out that this facility received a decent grade in our nursing category. We awarded it a grade of B- in the area. Our nursing grade is primarily associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This place provides only 0.5 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a somewhat alarming figure as it is well below the national average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place surprisingly excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. It scored well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality
We awarded this nursing home just a D for our short-term care grade. This is not a very good score. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to evaluate measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Considering its score in this category, we were not stunned to discover that this place was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The last metric we considered in this area is the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4.5 percent of its residents returning home.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the last category, this facility didn't fare very well in this category either. With a rock bottom grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as terrible as it gets. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in long-term care it is a bad sign for patient care and it may mean that the place is not as well-staffed. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 62.698414 percent of its residents. This is significantly lower than the national average. To our surprise, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
