Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with a great overall score, we awarded this nursing home an A for our inspections rating. Arguably the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better grades in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On the list of its many elite scores, this nursing home received a strong short-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A in that category. In determining our short-term care scores, we scrutinize a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. This grade is often a meaningful measure of a facility's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 6.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility is also strong in the category of long-term care, where it received a score of B+. It performed more favorably than most nursing homes in this area. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care typically provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure patients are kept in good health. One of the criteria we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccinations. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its patients. This is a reliable method to avoid unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the aged 65 and up population. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

In our last category, we gave this facility a grade of A for its nursing grade. This wrapped up a very favorable report card. The nursing category is based on quite a few components, most of which are tied to nursing hours. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
