Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this nursing home received a grade of A in our long-term care category. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 99.31973 percent of its patients, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia is often a dangerous condition for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a nursing home does not leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its impressive category scores, this nursing home excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned a grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another one of this facility's impressive category grades came in the area of nursing care. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B+. Nursing scores are based in large part on quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home averages 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the final category we scored, this facility was given an impressive grade grade of B+ in our short-term care category. With this grade, the nursing home finished off a very favorable report card. Our short-term care scores are based on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a wide scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The last item we considered in this category is the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
