Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being an elite facility overall, this nursing home also performed well in the area of inspections, where it earned an A+. Few nursing homes fared this well in this category. These inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to cause an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility performed remarkably in our long-term care category. We gave them a dominant grade of A+ in this category. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. In addition to providing very favorable levels of nursing care, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.42 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. In calculating our nursing scores, we assess both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This particular facility provided 5.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This was one of the better figures we found. In addition, we found that a significant percentage of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. These are both really impressive figures. In addition to offering high levels of nursing care, this nursing home also fared well in several of the quality measures we looked at. In terms of the number of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, this nursing home outpaced the national average.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the final category, we awarded this facility an A+ for its short-term care rating. This wrapped up an elite profile. In determining our short-term care ratings, we look at a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is frequently a useful measure of a facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. This facility offered more physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most facilities. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who returned to the community from this facility. This place performed decently in this area, with 46.3 percent of its patients returning home.
