Facility Inspections
On top of being a top notch nursing home overall, it also excelled in inspections, where it received an A. Not many nursing homes performed better in this area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being relatively minor. This place was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
To add to its strong accomplishments in other areas, we gave this nursing home a grade of A for our long-term care rating. For patients in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 73.52941 percent of its patients. This is somewhat below what we anticipated. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. Nursing scores are heavily correlated with quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we scored is short-term care. This nursing home received a better than average short-term care grade this year, with a C. While this was not as elite as a few of its other scores, this is nevertheless an acceptable score in this area. In our short-term care rating, we endeavor to create a fair measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a facility's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients that were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below average.
