We want to point out that this facility earned a much better grade for long-term care than it received overall. we gave it one of our best grades in that category with an impressive grade of A-. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it generally means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is higher than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

This facility's inspection grade also was better than its overall score. Due to a quality inspection report this year, it earned one of our better grades in that category with a grade of B. Inspection scores are tied to several items located in the a nursing home's recent inspections. Places that excel in this area typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home received 8 deficiencies on its inspection report. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is always a good sign.

The third area we assessed is short-term care, where this facility was awarded a C in this category. Our short-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This includes a vast scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Moving on to the final area, we gave this facility a grade of D in our nursing category. This was the nursing home's weakest category grade. Our nursing score looks at the facility's nurse staffing levels. We consider both the levels of training of those nurses and the amount of time spent with patients.
