Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Even though we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our nursing category. In determining a facility's nursing score, we consider the number of hours nurses commit to patients as well as the levels of training of those nurses. This facility provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a much lower figure than we were hoping for. Finally, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this facility actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is generally a reliable indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also didn't fare too badly in the category of short-term care. In fact, we awarded it a grade of C in that area, which ended up being another one of its better grades. Short-term care ratings are critical for individuals in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing services. This means a broad range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The tricky part is determining what effect this had on quality of care. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who returned home from this facility. We found that 3.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was actually well below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality
We awarded this nursing home just a D for our long-term care rating. This is not a very good score. Facilities that do not fare well in long-term care often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in a few of the areas of routine medical care we looked at. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. Candidly, we were a bit concerned this facility vaccinated only 76.397514 percent of its residents for pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
Facility Inspections
Moving on our last category of inspections, this facility received an F here. Since this information is compiled by independent government inspectors, we heavily weight poor results in this area. With facilities that received this bad of an inspection rating, we recommend scrutinizing any severe deficiencies on its inspection report. This facility had 8 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we found is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they caused a risk to patient safety or health. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
