Registered Staff Hours
Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A in this category. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. It is typically best to avoid nursing homes that had too many severe deficiencies. This facility was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to resident health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
The next most favorable area we awarded this nursing home in any category came in the area of short-term care, where we gave it a B-. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The final datapoint we considered in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 5.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is actually below average.

Long-term Care Quality
The next category we analyzed was long-term care, where this nursing home was given an F. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in long-term care may not provide the type of consistent around the clock care that some other nursing homes provide. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We were a bit concerned this facility provided the vaccine to only 83.67347 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this place was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
Nurse Quality
The next area we graded is nursing. Sadly, it received a lowly F for this category, which is an abysmal score. When computing a facility's nursing rating, we look at the amount of time nurses commit to residents as well as the level of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. To pair with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this facility also did not perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in calculating our nursing scores. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining pressure ulcers and major falls. This place had more falls and pressure ulcers than the average nursing home.
