Long-term Care Quality
Even though we graded this facility extremely poorly overall, it received a more respectable long-term care rating this year. We gave it a B- in that area, which was the closest thing to a bright spot we were able to find for this facility. Our long-term care grade is commonly used to measure a facility's performance as a traditional nursing home, as opposed to focusing more on the skilled nursing services provided by a rehabilitation facility. After we finished looking at the volume of nursing care, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. We were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 86.167145 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the area of short-term care, this facility received just a D in this area. As it turns out, this ended up being its second best grade. Short-term care grades are commonly employed to gauge a facility's rehabilitation services. To provide highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally must feature better levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. Given its grade in this area, we were not surprised to discover that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the measures we looked at. Frankly, this was about what we expected here. The final item we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 0 percent of its patients returning home.

Facility Inspections
Unfortunately, this nursing home received a lowly F for its inspection rating. This is an important category. Scores in this range typically mean we found some red flags on the nursing home's inspection reports. You should pay special attention to any deficiencies on a facility's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection rating. We would scrutinize the level of severity of those deficiencies. This particular facility was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only favorable thing we found is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they created a threat to resident health or safety. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
Switching gears to our last category, this facility really didn't fare well in this category either. Due to a bottom of the barrel grade of F in nursing, this is about as as uninspiring as it gets. In determining our nursing grades, we assess both nursing hours and the training levels of the nurses. This place provided a meager 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. On top of its subpar nursing hour totals, this nursing home also earned suboptimal scores in many of the quality-based metrics we looked at in computing our nursing ratings. We found that a higher percentage of this nursing home's patients sustained falls which led to major injury.
