Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this facility highly overall, we want to draw your attention to its nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. Our inspection scores are tied to several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these reports. You should especially avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies linked to risks to resident well being. While this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Sadly, this facility's second highest category is long-term care. Nevertheless, with a D in this category, it still performed somewhat badly. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care ratings. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is better than the vast majority of nursing homes. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.04 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the area of short-term care, this facility was given a grade of just D in this area. In our short-term care category, we endeavor to craft a valuable measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at a facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. With its weak score in this area, we weren't surprised to discover this place provides significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This definitely wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 5.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
Nurse Quality
Turning to our next category, this nursing home really didn't perform well in this category either. With an abysmal grade of F in nursing, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. When determining our nursing scores, we analyze both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is not a very impressive figure. Finally, we also looked at some quality measures in calculating our nursing scores. This facility was above average in two of the data points we considered, with solid marks for avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. These data points are usually good indicators of the quality of nursing care provided.
