To go along with its favorable overall score, we awarded this facility an A+ for our inspections rating. Our inspection ratings are based on several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a grade of A+ for its short-term care grade. Short-term care scores are crucial for prospective residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a broad range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. This proved to be a real strength for this nursing home. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of nursing homes in the country in this area with 70.8 percent of its residents returning home. This is a substantially better rate than most nursing homes.

Another strong feature for this facility is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. Our nursing grade consists of several components, however, the main one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home averages 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a system of turning a resident even once per day.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to our final category, this nursing home was awarded a very strong long-term care grade. We gave it a grade of B+ in that category, wrapping up one of our more favorable report cards. For residents in need of a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. One of the statistics we considered on top of nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. It does not look like this nursing home submitted information on its vaccination levels. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
