Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to being a respectable facility overall, this place really excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with higher grades in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This place received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered severe. This means that CMS didn't consider any of these deficiencies to be an imminent risk to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility also excelled in the category of long-term care, with high-end score of A- in this category. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 76.47059 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which happens to be a bit below what we were hoping for but still a respectable percentage. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of C, which is a decent grade. Our nursing rating is mostly associated with a nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This figure is significantly below the national average. Lastly, although this nursing home got docked a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in a few of our quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed very well in this statistic.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last category we rated is short-term care, which ended up being this nursing home's worst category. We gave it a lowly F for this category, which is clearly very concerning. In our short-term care category, we strive to forge a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The last measure we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.3 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below the national average.
