While we were not high on this facility's overall grade, it received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is more than most nursing homes. This nursing home also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Turning to the area of short-term care, this facility received a grade of just D in that area. Our short-term care grade is typically used to judge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation In order to have good rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. The final measure we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. The last area we scored was nursing, where this facility received a very poor grade in this category also. Sadly, it received a lowly F in this category, which is obviously a major disappointment. To pair with its below average total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home had really bad scores in many of the quality-based metrics we looked at in calculating our nursing ratings. We looked at the percent of residents having falls which led to serious injury. This place was at more than 1.5 times the national average in this statistic. This is concerning in light of the fact that many falls could be avoided with better nursing care. This ended up sealing the nursing home's fate of receiving a poor nursing rating.
