Facility Inspections
Although this place's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually performed well in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B for that category, which is one of our better scores. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively insignificant. This place was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to cause an imminent threat to resident safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of C. When computing our nursing scores, we assess both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This facility provides only 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure as it is well below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place actually excelled in some of the quality measures we assessed. It performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the quantity of hours of care provided.

Long-term Care Quality
We gave this nursing home just a D for our long-term care rating. This is not a score to write home about. Long-term care ratings in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. As it turns out, this facility gave the vaccine to only 90.56975 percent of its patients, which is slightly concerning. Surprisingly, this place actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we analyzed is short-term care, in which this nursing home received a very poor grade in this area as well. Sadly, it received an F for this category, which is definitely a major disappointment. Our short-term care scores are presumably more meaningful for those needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually utilizes more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not merely nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. With its score in this category, we weren't stunned to discover that this facility was well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the figures we looked at. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
