Facility Inspections
Although we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it earned a very impressive inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our better grades in that area with a B+. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. It is generally best to avoid facilities that had a long list of severe deficiencies. This nursing home was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered severe. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent risk to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also didn't rate poorly in the area of short-term care. In fact, we awarded it a grade of C for that area, which wound up being among its more respectable grades. Our short-term care scores are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a wide scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The key is determining what effect this had on quality of care. Lastly, we considered the number of patients that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below average.

Long-term Care Quality
Another issue is the F this nursing home received in the area of long-term care. Long-term care ratings in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. One of the factors we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. Candidly, we were a bit alarmed this facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to only 87.27915 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best score in this category.
Nurse Quality
The last area we scored was nursing. This facility was given a bottom of the barrel grade of F in that category. Nursing scores are tied to levels of nurse staffing. With just 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were significantly below average. Unfortunately, this place also had terrible scores in some of the quality-based metrics to go along with its low nursing hours. We looked at the percent of residents experiencing pressure ulcers and we were very disappointed. This place was at approximately 150 percent of the national average in this measure.
