While we were fairly low on this facility overall, we awarded it an A- for our inspections rating. This score is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively insignificant. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is always a good sign.

This nursing home also was awarded an impressive score in our long-term care category. We awarded this nursing home a better than average grade of B in that category. If you are seeking services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care grades. After assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 64.73988 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be a bit below what we expected but still a decent percentage. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.4 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Another unfortunate development is the F this facility was given in the area of short-term care. In our short-term care score, we seek to create a sound gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the facility's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Given its grade in this category, we were not surprised to discover that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home did not fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 47.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was below average.

Turning to our last category, this facility didn't perform very well in this area either. With a bottom of the barrel grade of F in nursing, this is just about as terrible as it gets. The nursing grade consists of several subcategories, but the paramount one is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This place averaged a meager 2.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This facility was above average in two of the metrics we considered, with solid scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These statistics are often good measures of the quality of nursing care offered.
