Facility Inspections
To go along with its great overall score, we gave this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
Contributing to its fine resume, this nursing home also was given a superb short-term care grade, with a grade of A-. Short-term care grades are commonly employed to gauge a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To provide high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to offer better levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home was awarded an impressive long-term care grade as well. We awarded it one of our better scores in that area with a score of B+. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care typically provide patients with better supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. After we finished looking at the volume of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 98.82904 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia tragically can be a dangerous condition for nursing home residents so we like it when a nursing home doesn't leave its residents vulnerable. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
The final category we analyzed was nursing. This nursing home was awarded a favorable nursing rating in our assessment, with a grade of B-. Although this isn't nearly as impressive as several of its other scores, this is nevertheless an acceptable grade in this category. When computing our nursing ratings, we look at both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a relatively low total compared with most facilities. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics. While this nursing home got dinged a bit for nursing hours per resident, it excelled in some of these quality measures. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it did very well in this area. This can be an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of moving a patient at least once a day.
