Facility Inspections
In addition to being a top notch facility overall, this place also excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Our inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher grades in this area tend to have very few of these severe deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. You can't do much better than a deficiency-free inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning the page to our third area, we awarded this nursing home a score of A- for its short-term care score. This is a first-rate rating. In determining our short-term care grades, we assess a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. This category is considered to be a reliable assessment of a facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last metric we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we graded is long-term care. We awarded this facility one of our higher scores in that category, with a grade of B. While this was not as strong as a few of its other scores, it is still a positive score. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care tend to provide patients with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. After assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
