Facility Inspections
With an overall grade this high, it should come as no surprise that this facility excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A-. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being relatively insignificant. This particular nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Contributing to its high-end assessment, this nursing home also was given a superb long-term care grade, with a grade of A-. Facilities that do well in this category tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to residents. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 95.85253 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia can be a dangerous condition for nursing home residents so we like it when a nursing home doesn't leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
The third category we assessed is short-term care. Contributing to its superb resume, this facility also performed well in this category. In fact, we awarded it a of A- for that category. Short-term care scores are based on the facility's quantity of skilled nursing services. This means a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final measure we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 4.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Nurse Quality
The last area we assessed was nursing. In that area, we gave this nursing home an above average grade of B. Our nursing rating includes many factors, most of which are tied to quantities of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also factored a few quality measures into our nursing grades. This place was relatively weak in two of the major areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are generally reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care provided.
